Twenty different geological formations are identified here using fourteen different colors which are delineated in the geological legend situated in the lower left corner. The legend is divided between intrusive igneous rock formations and sedimentary and volcanic rock formations, and capital and lower-case letters are used to specifically identify each formation on the map.Cities, towns, and villages throughout the Federation and in neighboring countries are labeled, with different notations used to define approximate populations. This map was created and published by the Federal Department of Trigonometrical and Topographical Survey of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1961.
