Original Antique Maps and Prints. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after'Samuel Thornton'. 1715 was the son the English mapmaker John Thornton, an eminent English mapmaker of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century. After his father's death in 1708, Samuel Thornton continued to re-issue his fathers map (often with his imprint substituted). Subject: Antique print, titled:'A Chart of the Coast of Barbary from C. A map/chart of the coast of West Africa, from Cape Cantin (Safi / El Jadida) to the Straight of Gibraltar in the North. This includes Casablanca and Rabat as well as Tangier. An inset map continues the coast south as far as Cape Geer (Essaouira). Condition: Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 58.5 x 46.3 cm. The image size is ca. 53.2 x 43.2 cm. Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 23 x 18.2 inch. 20.9 x 17 inch.
