Mysterious long river with huge lake runs across the top, within the desert area of Mali. Charming and uncommon early 17th century antique copper engraved miniature map. Fascinating example of an early 17th century Dutch copper engraved map plate moving from Holland to London and being used by different publishers continuously over a 30+ year period. Variant text on reverse as always. Map displays overall age toning and light damp staining, slight old burn spot within interior, less than perfect example but still nice looking and worthy of ownership. Right side margin has been reinforced on back with matching paper to strengthen and slightly extend (see scan of reverse of map).
