Wall sized Pull down maps became popular in the 1880's, here is one of the earliest examples of such maps featuring a topographic map of Africa from 1884. Executed by Bacon of England for Andrews of New York & Chicago.
Map is fully intact and although it has blemishes commensurate with age, use and storage, it displays very well as seen in the images. Mounted on a Hartshorn Self Acting Map-Roller (Patented and constructed 1884) There are 3 small tears which are pointed out in the closeups and taped on the backside.
