1595 Ortelius Morocco with inset of Pigaffetta's Kingdom of Congo. Fine map of northwest Africa and the Barbary coast, the Straight of Gibraltar, the Canary Islands, and Madera from the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern atlas of the world. The engraved lettering is particularly elaborate and impressive. A large inset map (Congi Regni Christiani, in Africa, Nova Descriptio) features the Kingdom of the Congo based on Filippo Pigafetta's famous map of 1591.
